Herrud was elected Saturday, May 15, at the DAV meeting in Bismarck.
He was born and raised in Langdon, N.D., and joined the United States Army as a Combat Medic in February 2005. Herrud served two combat tours: one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. After his honorable discharge in December 2012, he began working with Disabled American Veterans.
