FARGO — The Fargodome was filled with cheering and screaming people Tuesday, but not for a Bison football game.

Instead, over 1,100 Latin and Greek students wearing togas battled it out to see who had the most spirit during the National Junior Classical League Convention. This year's convention is the 66th in its history.

The students have been in competition since Saturday in challenges like trivia, written tests, and costume contests. Students and faculty from over 30 states came to appreciate Latin and Greek culture.

"They work really hard the whole week, so spirit is a time for them to yell and to have fun, so it does help them feel better," said Catherine Sturgill, the league's committee chair.

This is the first time since 2010 the convention has come to Fargo. The convention also came to Fargo in 1997.
