UND School of Law to host trial competition in Fargo
FARGO — The University of North Dakota School of Law, along with the State Bar Association of North Dakota, will host the regional rounds of the National Trial Competition for the first time ever Feb. 9-11 at the Cass County Courthouse.
The Region 9 competition is made up of 12 schools from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Each school will bring two teams to compete, with the winner advancing to the national trial competition in Texas.
Judge Ralph Erickson from the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, other North Dakota Federal judges and all members of the North Dakota Supreme Court will judge the semi-final and final rounds. More than 400 volunteers are needed to hold the competition. Volunteers include current law students at UND as well as undergraduate students from Concordia College, North Dakota State University and Moorhead State University and the larger Fargo-Moorhead community.
The complete schedule of rounds is as follows:
• 5-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9
• 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10
• 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10
• 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb.11 (semi-finals and final round)
