FARGO — The Fargo Public Library will host author Amy Scheibe for a virtual book discussion about her 2015 novel “A Fireproof Home for the Bride” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25.

Pre-registration is required for this free event at www.fargolibrary.org. Once registered, participants will receive an email regarding the virtual meeting details. A limited number of copies of the book are also available. For more information, contact Lori West at 701-476-5977 or email lwest@fargolibrary.org.

Set in 1950s Minnesota and North Dakota, Scheibe’s novel is a coming-of-age story featuring 18-year-old Emmy Nelson, who becomes swept up in a family secret when she attempts to step outside her parents’ rules in order to follow her heart.

The book captures a time when women’s roles were being rapidly redefined, and when a country that had been united in the wake of World War II was starting to fray along the weaker seams of prejudice.
