Fargo-Moorhead area Memorial Day events set for Monday

A number of Memorial Day events are planned for the area for Monday, May 30.

FARGO — A number of Memorial Day events are planned for the area for Monday, May 30.

The Horace American Legion Post 293 is planning brief ceremonies at the following Horace-area cemeteries at the noted times:

  • 9:05 a.m.: Clemenson Cemetery.
  • 9:30 a.m.: St. Benedict Cemetery.
  • 9:50 a.m.: Lower Wild Rice Cemetery.
  • 10:15 a.m.: Salem Cemetery.
  • 10:30 a.m.: Horace Lutheran
  • 10:50 a.m.: Sheyenne River Cemetery.
  • 11:15 a.m.: St. John's Cemetery.
  • 11:40 a.m.: Brink Cemetery.

The Legion post will also hold a brief ceremony at the veterans memorial in Horace at 11:50 a.m. A potluck lunch will be held at 12:15 p.m. at the Horace Senior Center.
In case of rain, all services will be combined at noon at the senior center.

The Nelson-Otteson American Legion Post 370 will hold a Memorial Day celebration at 11 a.m. on May 30 at the Salem Cemetery in Wolverton.

There will be a short program followed by a lunch at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton.


In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at Faith Lutheran Church.

Other Memorial Day activities include events at the following locations and times:

  • 7 a.m.: Veterans Memorial Bridge between Fargo and Moorhead.
  • 7:30 a.m.: Jewish Cemetery near Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
  • 8:30 a.m.: Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
  • 8:45 a.m.: Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
  • 9:15 a.m.: Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin.
  • 9:30 a.m.: Trinity Cemetery, Sabin.
  • 10 a.m.: Evergreens South, Moorhead; Oakwood Cemetery, Harwood.
  • 10:15 a.m.: Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead.
  • 10:30 a.m.: St. Josephs Cemetery, Moorhead.
  • 10:40 a.m.: Riverside Cemetery, north Moorhead.
  • 10:45 a.m.: West Fargo VFW flag raising, with program at 11 a.m.
  • 11 a.m.: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo; Moorhead American Legion Program.
  • Noon: Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery program, Fargo.
  • Noon: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 6.5 miles south of Mandan on state Highway 1806.
  • 1 p.m.: Moorhead Legion Post 21, flag raising; Lindenwood Park Army and Navy memorials, Fargo.
  • 3 p.m.: Fargo National Cemetery at 8709 40th Ave. N., Cass County Road 20, Harwood.

Event organizers say times are approximate, so it is recommended people be 10-15 minutes early.
