Fargo Public Library sets up 'masks and mittens' tree

FARGO — The Fargo Public Library is setting up a mask and mitten tree in order to help those in need stay warm.

The tree is sitting in the entry way of the main library downtown. It started out as giving tree for cold weather gear in September, but the library decided to add masks to the trees to help fill the need due to the pandemic.

The tree has been a hit. They said they receive donations of coats, mittens and masks that are gone in a matter of hours. They get tons of cold weather gear and masks donated to the tree, as well.

"We're the library. We're here to help everyone, so if you need anything just come on by see what we've got," said Sunny Vernick with the Fargo Public Library.

People are welcome to stop in anytime the library is open to pick up or drop off items.

The tree will be up until it is not needed anymore, the library said.
