Fargo's Salvation Army hosts kick-off event for 'Red Kettle' campaign

FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead Salvation Army hosted a socially-distanced kick-off gathering Friday, Nov. 13 at West Acres Regional Shopping Center to signal the start of their annual fundraising campaign.

The Red Kettle campaign's goal is to raise $900,000 and to "rescue Christmas" for area families. As the pandemic has led many people to shop online, therefore decreasing foot-traffic at the stores these signature red kettles are outside of, Major Jerry O'Neil said they encourage the community to donate online. Additionally, QR Codes available at the red kettles at stores.

O'Neil said financial donations account for a large portion of their Salvation Army's annual funding and that with more people in need of their services as the pandemic surges forward, every penny helps them serve their community.
