Upcoming fundraising events

A fundraiser to benefit Becky Atkins will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the El Zagal Shrine. Proceeds from the "BBQ Bash," auction and raffles will benefit Becky, a wife and mom of two sons, who has been a special education paraeducator at Fargo North High School for 25 years and is now battling breast cancer.

A fundraiser to benefit Clara Motschenbacher will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Double Tree by Hilton, 825 E. Beaton Drive, West Fargo. Proceeds from the free-will meal, bake sale, and auction will help the family with expenses related to Clara’s fight to beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and regain strength to resume activities at Fargo South High School.

Ashley Hoppe, Mapleton, N.D., wife (John), mom to McKenna (11), Madelyn (6) and Charleigh (3), was only 28 years-old when her medical challenges began, requiring two surgeries to remove brain tumors. In 2020, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which became even more challenging when more brain tumors were found.

Karen Schmitz, wife (Paul), mom to Abigail (20) and McKenzie (17), persevered at home and work while undergoing 13 rounds of chemotherapy for breast cancer before a reaction compromised her lungs, requiring weeks of hospitalization. Resulting lost wages and insurance coverage are devastating to this family.

Angie Mueller, Fargo, has suffered for many years with multiple conditions including Sjogren’s Syndrome, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia and neuropathy which has lessened her mobility. Since experiencing a long battle with COVID, her conditions have worsened, leaving her with unmanageable, chronic pain.

Dallas Donahue, Fargo, sustained serious physical injuries when his motorcycle collided with a truck on Oct. 5th. The 25-year-old was put in a medically induced coma in the ICU until stable. His recovery will require multiple surgeries and extensive therapy.

Carson Fuglie, Ulen, Minn., 14 year-old son (Brady and Kayla) sustained serious injury in an ATV accident in September. Carson’s road to recovery has required multiple surgeries and care at Fairview Children’s Hospital and the University of Minnesota, creating lost wages and substantial out-of-pocket costs for the family.
