Carsten Haugen Earns Rank of Eagle Scout

Carsten James Haugen of Casselton ND, son of Brent and Monica (Hummel) Haugen, has achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout. His Court of Honor ceremony will take place at 2pm on Saturday September 24th at Martin’s Lutheran Church, 502 Martin’s Avenue North in Casselton. Carsten’s grandparents are Susan and the late Robert Haugen of Fargo ND, and Donovan and Sherry Hummel of Minot, ND.

Carsten is a founding member of Troop 241 of the Northern Lights Council, Northern Sky District. The Troop’s charter is held by the Casselton Fire Department. Carsten is a member of Order of the Arrow, a Scouting Honor Society, as well as Sea Scouts Ship #2696. His love of all things Scouting extends to his summer job- Carsten has been on staff as a Camp Counselor for 4 years, earning a promotion to Scoutcrafts Director for the summer of 2022.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 Merit Badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by planning, organizing, and executing an Eagle Project. Carsten has earned 37 Merit Badges. For his Eagle project, he fundraised, purchased, and organized the installation of fire hydrant markers in Casselton.

Carsten is a 2022 graduate of Central Cass High School, and is currently attending North Dakota State University, majoring in Natural Resource Management.
