The American Heart Association got a bit of an extra gift for Giving Hearts Day Thursday, Feb. 13.

For the second year now, Tech Mahindra has raised money to donate to the cause. This year, the company presented a check for $4,000.

The money was raised through a bake sale and silent auction that had around $14,000 worth of items.

This year's donation to the American Heart Association nearly doubled last year's amount, which was $2,100.

"We like to be able to give back to our community. We have roots here, and we constantly want to give back to that," said Jessica Sell with Tech Mahindra. "I think for the AHA, it just shows they're constantly on our mind and we want to be able to help them do the good deeds that they do."

Sell said businesses like Sandy's Donuts and Panera Bread donated some baked goodies, while many others were homemade.
