FARGO — Fewer people will go hungry thanks to a $1 million donation to the Great Plains Food Bank.
Sanford Health is donating the money, along with packing up 'Meals for Moms' for expecting moms in need.
Bryan Nermoe, president of Sanford Fargo, says not having access to healthy food can lead to medical problems, and he hopes this donation can help.
Taylor Syvertson, the impact manager at Great Plains, says this is the largest donation in the food bank's history.
"Right now, as a result of COVID-19, we're seeing significant increase in need. This year alone, we've already served more than 45% more clientele than we do in a typical year."
Syvertson says this donation will give 2 million meals to people in need across North Dakota.
