MOORHEAD —A local teen is making a big difference with her project 'Backpack Blessings.'

Addie Loerzel, of Addie's Royal Cupcake stand, won a Hershey Heartwarming Young Heroes grant from Youth Service America and the Hershey Company.

She used the grant money to buy backpacks, socks, and snacks to give to three local organizations serving people who are homeless.

She didn't pack them all on her own. Addie recruited 40 students from Moorhead high school and Richland elementary to help collect items and stuff the backpacks.

"It's helpful for people that are homeless because they need this stuff and if they don't have that how are they going to survive," Loerzel said.

Loerzel's goal was to donate 20 backpacks. She blew that out of the water, and was able to donate 104 backpacks.
