MOORHEAD — A local nonprofit is raising tens of thousands of dollars to go directly to a small town in Haiti.

Micah Cornerstone Ministries is giving $20,768.44 to United Hearts for Haiti in Moorhead. One of its leaders, Rev. Paul Aladin, is from a town in the southern end of the country. He said the recent earthquake flattened most of the buildings there, and the people are in serious need of help.

They are already sending essential supplies to the people living there, and he said this contribution will make a huge impact on what they do.

"As we continue with our project, this is going to be a great thing for us moving forward, to continue serving people there," said Aladin, adding that all of the money they raise will go directly to their efforts in the southern Haitian town.
