FARGO - The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has nominated WDAY News for 7 awards.

Reporter Kevin Wallevand's work earned several nominations, including a story about a goose that was adopted by a family in Hillsboro in the Light Feature News Report category.

Wallevand's documentary "Miracles Under the Mango Tree", about the work of a Fargo eye care team who traveled to Haiti to conduct life-changing surgeries, earned three nominations. The entire series is nominated in the Health category, while Wallevand earned a nod in the Writer - Program (Non-News) category and his photographer Devin Krinke was nominated in the Photographer - Program (Non-News) category.

Wallevand's story about a dramatic ice out on Rush Lake this spring earned a nod in the Weather - Single Story/Series category.

In the Crime category, Wallevand's story about one man's life after drug court was nominated.

Finally, Wallevand earned a nomination in the Writer - News category for his work writing newscasts.

The nominations were announced Sept. 7. Winners will be announced at the 19th annual awards gala on Oct. 6 in Bloomington, Minn.
