Woodland and High Plains Powwow planned April 15 at MSUM

The powwow will feature many styles of dance and drum songs from area tribes, including Jingle Dress Special, Potato Dance Special, Head Male and Head Female Dancer Special and Two Spirit/LGBT Special.

MOORHEAD — The 32nd annual Woodlands and High Plains Powwow will be held Saturday, April 15, in Minnesota State University Moorhead's Nemzek Fieldhouse. This year's theme is "Together We Thrive."

The powwow will feature many styles of dance and drum songs from area tribes, including Jingle Dress Special, Potato Dance Special, Head Male and Head Female Dancer Special and Two Spirit/LGBT Special.

Grand entries are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a community meal will be served during the 5 p.m. break. The doors will open to the public at noon.

This year’s head female dancer will be North Dakota State University student and current Miss He Sapa Win 2022-23 Taylor Campbell, and the head male dancer is Tim Gabbard, a sophomore at Moorhead High School.

Admission for the event is $3 for elders (55+) and youth (ages 6-18); $5 for adults; and free for children under 5 and colleges students with ID.
