Minnesota State University Moorhead President Anne Blackhurst runs with members of the Dragons women’s softball team Wednesday to raise money for new student scholarships. Blackhurst, who took over as the university’s president on July 1, ran 50 laps around the Ron Masanz Track at Nemzek Field for the fundraiser, called “Laps for the Long Run.” Blackhurst personally donated $1,000 for each lap she ran and encouraged others to make a pledge. MSUM said in a statement Wednesday that $1.18 million has been pledged so far, which is close to the university’s $1.2 million goal. The merit-based scholarships could be awarded as early as fall 2015. David Samson / The Forum
