CHICAGO - Quarterback Easton Stick, a finalist for the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision, was one of eight North Dakota State players named to the STATS FCS All-American team that was announced Tuesday.
Stick is up for the Payton Award along with quarterbacks Chandler Burks of Kennesaw State and Devlin Hodges of Samford. Their order on the All-American team (first team through third team) will be determined after an awards banquet on Jan. 4.
NDSU center Tanner Volson and safety Robbie Grimsley were named to the first team. Offensive tackle Zack Johnson and linebacker Jabril Cox were named to the second team. Defensive end Greg Menard, punter Garret Wegner and punt returner Darrius Shepherd were named to the third team.
The top-ranked Bison (14-0) play No. 3-ranked Eastern Washington (12-2) in the FCS championship game at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5 in Frisco, Texas.
