Neighbors, let's not forget Buckskin Harry.
Many months ago, this column carried a story about local entertainer Harry Parnell, who took on the show-biz name of Buckskin Harry.
He was born in 1886 in Iowa, moved to Moorhead in 1929 and married Moorhead chiropractor Jennie Eastman in 1930.
Buckskin bought an albino horse named Crystal Pal, trained her to do more than 20 tricks and did shows with her in rodeos, circuses, in schools and at many special events. All in all, Buckskin and Crystal put on shows in 32 states and Canada.
Information on Buckskin and Crystal came from Jim Gompf, Fargo, owner of Gompf Displays Inc., because his father, L.F. "Andy" Gompf, hired Buckskin to do shows for him when his business worked in area cities having jubilees and centennials.
Now Jim sends in this picture of Buckskin and his horse, which Buckskin autographed for Andy.
Buckskin died in 1973, but Jim and many others still remember him.
