FARGO — A film with Fargo ties gets its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival this week.
“To the Stars,” the latest project of the Fargo-based production team Northern Lights Films, receives a Friday, Jan. 25, showcase at the famous independent film festival in Park City, Utah.
Northern Lights Films is president Jeff Schlossman and vice president Erik Rommesmo.
“To the Stars” is the story of two teenage girls in a small, 1960s Oklahoma town who must deal with the hardships in their lives when a dark secret threatens to be unearthed.
The film is directed by Martha Stephens (“Land Ho!”), and stars Kara Hayward (“Moonrise Kingdom”) and Liana Liberato (“Light as a Feather”), with Jordana Spiro, Shea Whigham, Malin Akerman and Tony Hale.
The film is one of 16 in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. Schlossman says the film was picked from a pool of 4,000 submissions.
Northern Lights has previously attended Sundance with “The Hero,” “It Follows” and “I’ll See You in My Dreams," all of which were later screened at the Fargo Theatre.
