FARGO — A mixed-media artist based in New York is Plains Art Museum’s Artist in Residence.

The museum, 704 First Ave. N., announced Athena LaTocha’s residency will continue through June 4. Following the residency, she will exhibit a new work and exhibition, which is scheduled to be up June 5 through Sept. 30.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, LaTocha is a Hunkpapa Lakota / Keweenaw Bay Ojibwe artist, according to a news release. Her large works examine the tension between natural and unnatural landscapes.
