In the 1970s, Irwin Allen earned the nickname “Master of Disaster” for his catastrophe films, “The Poseidon Adventure,” “The Towering Inferno” and “The Swarm.” Those titles also earned him a Golden Raspberry for Worst Career Achievement. Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Straw Hat Players’ “Disaster!” spoofs the campy classics as a glitzy, celebrity-packed floating casino must deal with earthquakes, tidal waves, fires and killer fish, all with song-and-dance numbers. The musical adventure sets sale at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Hansen Theatre, MSUM. Tickets range from $28 to $30; https://www.mnstate.edu/strawhat/ or 218-477-2271.
