Spread the cheer: The many holiday events in Fargo-Moorhead this season

The holidays are here, and with it comes the hustle and bustle of the most wonderful time of the year. Here's a look at some of the many art markets, concerts and more coming to the Fargo-Moorhead area this holiday season.

Arts & Crafts

Holiday Art Market, 5-8 p.m. Thursdays on Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and Jan. 3 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays on Dec. 1, 8, 15 and Jan. 5, APT, A Creative Incubator, 225 Fourth Ave. N., Fargo, shop from dozens of local artists and find one-of-a-kind gifts.

Ninth Annual Holiday Collections Craft/Vendor Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2711 Seventh St. E., West Fargo, more than 80 artisans/vendors with goods for sale, lunch available for purchase, door prizes.

Writer Wonderland, 6 p.m. Dec. 6, Zandbroz Variety, 420 Broadway N., Fargo, meet writers and have them sign their books, authors include Jacqueline Bussie, Kimberly Diede, Timothy Kloberdanz, Jeff Kolpack, Kat Socks and Danielle Teigen, local craft beer, coffee and holiday treats; free.

Block 8 Holiday Open House, 4 p.m. Dec. 7, Dakota Fine Art, 11 Eighth St. S., Fargo, celebrate with Reed & Taylor, Violet Vintage, I Do and other Eighth Street businesses, fundraiser for the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, includes light refreshments and door prizes.

Very Merry Holiday Craft Market, 2 p.m. Dec. 16, Drekker Brewing Co., 1666 First Ave. N. Fargo, Unglued brings in the veriest, merriest holiday craft market, filled with handmade stuff from local makers and crafters.

Cultural

Christkindlmarkt, 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Nov. 30, noon-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Stone Building, 613 First Ave. N., Fargo, event includes outdoor winter wonderland, gift market, beer hall, food, live music, art demonstrations, mulled wine, holiday treats and more.

Traditional Norsk Christmas, 8:30-11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, Sons of Norway, 722 Second Ave. N., Fargo; dinner sold out, but $10 tickets remain to dance with the Front Fenders.

"Nutcracker" and Holiday Show, 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Moorhead High School, 2300 Fourth Ave. S., Moorhead, Bonnie Haney School of Dance and Performing Co. presents selections from classic ballet and festive contemporary dances; $28.

"The Classic Nutcracker," 2 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16 and 7 p.m. Dec. 15, Festival Concert Hall, NDSU, FM Ballet presents graceful snowflakes and flowers, the majestic Sugar Plum Fairy, an epic battle between mischievous mice and toy soldiers, plus much more; $8 to $42.

Family

Santa Village, 1-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, and dates through Dec. 23, Rheault Farm, 2902 25th St. S., Fargo, see live reindeer, decorate cookies, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, go to www.fargoparks.com for hours; admission to Santa Village is free, but guests are encouraged to bring donations of canned goods, cash and new toys for local charities.

Mommy and Me: Holiday Hair, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, West Fargo Public Library, 109 Third St. E., West Fargo, West 13th Salon stylists teach moms to create braids and buns in their daughters' hair, the perfect complement to holiday outfits; registration required by calling 701-551-8940.

Holiday Nights at the Zoo, 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 22, Red River Zoo, 4255 23rd Ave. S., Fargo, enjoy a family stroll under charming Christmas lights and decorations, special animal presentations, educational activities, holiday campfire, music and more; $4 to $6.

Holiday Lights in Lindenwood Park, 5:30-10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, through Dec. 31, more than 65 holiday lights displays throughout the Roger Maris Drive in Lindenwood Park, 1905 Roger Maris Drive, Fargo, a benefit for Fargo-Moorhead Sertoma Club; $7 per car/van or $6 with canned good, $11 per bus/limo.

Christmas on the Prairie, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, Bonanzaville, 1351 W. Main Ave., West Fargo, pioneer village will be transformed to a simpler time where carolers sing the sounds of the season and cookies are baked in a wood-burning stove; $3 to $6.

Holiday 2018 Open House, 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, West Fargo Public Library, 109 Third St. E., West Fargo, check out holiday cookbooks, idea books, children's books, movies, crafts and more, Santa will visit 2-3:30 p.m.

Jaws Paws & Lunch with Santa Claus, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, Red River Zoo, 4255 23rd Ave. S., Fargo, lunch, crafts, photo with Santa and more; $10 to $15.

Candy Cane Carnival For Kids, 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Avalon Events Center, 2525 Ninth Ave. S., Fargo, family-friendly event includes photos with princesses, superheroes, Santa and Mrs. Claus, Games to Go, projects and crafts, dance party, dance performances, cookie decorating and more; $10 tp $25.

Experience Bethlehem: Family Christmas Event, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5, Atonement Lutheran Church, 4601 S. University Drive, Fargo, family event features a live petting zoo, visits from the main characters of the story of Jesus' birth, and building your own keepsake manger, singing, decorating sugar cookies and more.

Comstock Christmas Light Tours, 5:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6, 20 and 27, Comstock House, 506 Eighth St. S., Moorhead, historic house will be lit and decorated, offering insights into Victorian holiday traditions; $5 to $10.

Sneaky Elves, 10 a.m. Dec. 8, Dr. James Carlson Library, 2801 32nd Ave. S., Fargo, and 6 p.m. Dec. 11, Main Library, 102 Third St. N., open house crafting sessions, all materials provided and no pre-registration required.

Skate with Santa, 2:15 p.m. Dec. 9, Moorhead Sports Center, 324 24th St. S., Moorhead, lace up your skates and enjoy ice time with the big man, free hot chocolate and cookies served, skate rental available for limited sizes.

Skate with Santa, 3 p.m. Dec. 9, Veterans Memorial Arena, 1201 Seventh Ave. E., West Fargo, skate to Christmas music, the NDSU Bison Club Hockey team will also be joining Santa on the ice, free refreshments.

Mrs. Claus, 6 p.m. Dec. 10, Scheels, 1551 45th St. S., Fargo, visit with Mrs. Claus, decorate Christmas cookies and write letters to Santa; free for kids ages 4-12.

Christmas Cookie and Candy Walk, 10 a.m. Dec. 15, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 218 10th St. S., Moorhead, fill a box with a great variety of homemade cookies, candy and more; $15 to $25.

Santa Fly-In, 10 a.m. Dec. 15, Fargo Air Museum, 1609 19th Ave. N., Fargo, Santa touches down in the Sanford helicopter to talk with children about their lists as elves help children in and out of special airplanes, photos available for purchase.

Gingerbread Houses, 10 a.m. Dec. 15, Dr. James Carlson Library, 2801 32nd Ave. S., Fargo, children ages 2-12, bring your creative decorating talents to the library and make a colorful house fit for a gingerbread boy or girl, all materials provided, register by calling 701-241-1495.

Christmas with the Comstocks, 4 p.m. Dec. 15, Comstock House, 506 Eighth St. S., Moorhead, explore traditions of a Victorian Christmas by learning about the customs of the Comstock family and their friends; $7 to $9.

Gingerbread House Challenge, 1 p.m. Dec. 18, West Fargo Public Library, 109 Third St. E., West Fargo, frosting, decorative candies and graham cracker walls provided; space is limited so registration requested.

Church of Cash Christmas Show, 8 p.m. Dec. 9, Sanctuary Events Center, 670 Fourth Ave. N., Fargo, holiday tunes in the style of The Man in Black; $18.
