BILLINGS, Mont. — More than 200 books are nominated for the 13th annual High Plains Book Awards, a new record for the contest.

The 2019 awards ceremony will be held in Billings Oct. 11-12, and 228 books are in the running.

It’s a regional contest to recognize authors and books that reflect life in the region including North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas, as well as Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan in Canada.

The top three books in each of the 12 categories will be named finalists, and judges will then select the winners, who will be announced Oct. 12. For more information, visit
