FARGO - Beginning Monday, July 2, the Fargo Public Library has eliminated overdue fines for all children's materials.
The change is meant to increase access to books and materials for children and to make it easier for them to continue to check out books and read, according to a news release.
Research shows materials are generally returned on time and the lack of fines does encourage youngsters to check out more books. The library will continue to charge patrons fees for lost, missing or damaged items.
