Author Paul Legler will sign and discuss his latest book, “Half the Terrible Things,” Saturday afternoon at Zandbroz.
Legler’s second novel is a fictionalized account of a true crime, the violent death of North Dakotan Martin Tabert in the 1920s. Tabert was pulled from a train in Florida, charged with vagrancy and sentenced to a work camp where he was whipped to death and buried in a swamp.
The book is published by the North Dakota University Press.
Legler is a former lawyer and policy adviser in President Bill Clinton's administration.
He will be at Zandbroz from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
