FARGO — To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Fargo-Moorhead Opera is getting ready to perform an iconic and well-known piece. Georges Bizet's Carmen is on its way to the stage at North Dakota State University's Reineke Hall this weekend.
At their dress rehearsal on Tuesday, April 9, performers fine tuned each movement and note. While some of them are seasoned opera experts, many are students in the F-M area. This includes Isaiah Burkel of Concordia College. He is one of few students whose area of study is specifically opera.
One of the long-time professionals who helped out with the performance came all the way from France. Maria Todaro flew into Fargo on March 25 to be the show's stage director and fight choreographer.
Todaro said the performers strive to work as a team to give audience members "a unique, life-transforming experience."
The opera starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. To find more information about tickets, click here.
