WEST FARGO — Tonight's Red River Valley Fair grandstand concert with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has been cancelled due to safety concerns.
The Tuesday night show was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. with opener Jason Prichett followed by the headliners.
Breann Lenzmeier, marketing and sponsorship coordinator for the fair, said standing water in the grandstand area as well as the beer garden were cause for concern.
"It's a safety issue for all involved," she said.
The fairgrounds are still open, however, and carnival rides were running after the late afternoon, early evening thunderstorms moved through the area.
The show is simply cancelled, Lenzmeier said, and the bands will not be performing.
"It's unfortunate, but safety is the top concern," she said.
