FARGO — A national champion beatbox performer is in town not only to perform but to visit home.
Bjorn Hunstad, who goes by Bloomer on stage, is a professional beatbox performer. He's in Fargo this week for a Thursday performance at TEDxFargo.
Hunstad gained national attention for winning the American Beatbox Championships in New York City in 2018.
The 25-year-old performer grew up in Moorhead, Minn., and moved to Minneapolis in 2012 after graduating high school.
After studying in Minneapolis for a year, he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., to pursue his passion for music and kicked off a career after performing at open mic events around the city.
He made it to the top 16 in the American Beatbox Championships for the past seven competitions before taking home first place last year.
Hunstad will also be performing at the Folkways Night Bazaar Tuesday night at 6:45 p.m.
