There are only four days left until Christmas, which means in six days you won’t hear Christmas songs for another 11 months. Embrace the sounds of the season with these musical events.
Holiday Organ Concerts
Today & Friday
The Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway, is the place people love to see during the holidays, so why not stop in, sit down and listen to the sounds of the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Lance E. Johnson plays holiday favorites at noon today and tomorrow during this free, hour-long show. Bring your lunch and enjoy the music. Even if you don't bring something for yourself to eat, think of the less fortunate and bring a non-perishable item to be donated to the FM Food Pantry. fargotheatre.org/, (701) 239-8385.
Carols & Cocktails
It's looking like it will be a cold Christmas, but if you want to stay warm and spread some Christmas cheer, check out Carols & Cocktails tonight at Sanctuary Events Center, 670 4th Ave., N., Fargo. Musicians from Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd provide the soundtrack, so all you need to bring is your voice, and your ID and cash if you are 21 and want to enjoy some alcoholic spirits. The event is open to all and all ages. The merriment starts at 6 p.m.
Aaron Espe may live in Nashville, Tenn., but his songs come from his upbringing in Roseau, Minn. Small towns, open spaces and cold winters all appear in his five intimate, solo albums. The former Minneapolis folk scenester will bring it all back home when he plays the Spirit Room, 111 Broadway, Friday night. Given the season, don't be surprised if he pulls out a holiday tune or two from his new Christmas EP. Music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve tickets.
'Have Yourself a Funky Little Christmas'
Friday & Saturday
If you want to really get down with Christmas, get your boogie shoes on and check out Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome's "Have Yourself a Funky Little Christmas". The horn-based band blows the roof off Sanctuary Events Center, 670 4th Ave., N., Fargo, this weekend with a mix of soul, R&B and pop holiday tunes, featuring guest vocalist Andrina Brogden. Last year's show sold out, so this year the band added a second date. Friday and Saturday's shows start at 8 p.m. Floor tickets are $20, with an additional $20 for Saturday's holiday happy hour, which starts at 6 p.m. Both shows are ID-only. https://jadepresents.com/, (866) 300-8300.
