ELKO, Nev. — Longtime Forum columnist Jessie Veeder and several other North Dakotans have been invited to participate in an annual festival here that honors the artistic and cultural traditions of the American West.

The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, held Jan. 27 through Feb. 1 in Elko, announced Veeder will appear for the second time at this year's event. In addition to serving as a columnist from her ranch in Watford City, N.D., Veeder is also a singer-songwriter and author.

Nearly 90 other poets and musicians or groups are expected to attend the gathering. Other participants from North Dakota include: Jarle Kvale, Dunseith; Rodney Nelson, Almont; and Jonathan Odermann, Medora.
