FARGO — Fargo native Paul Johnson, also known as singer-songwriter Canyon City, is part of an online concert benefiting Best Friends Animal Society that will stream online Thursday, May 6.

Johnson, who previously performed as Silver Trees, will perform on the online bill that includes musicians Emmylou Harris, Joshua Radin and The Joy Formidable as well as appearances by Mayim Bialik, Kat Dennings, Tricia Helfer, Kevin Nealon, Dennis Quaid, Norman Reedus, Amanda Seyfried, Cecily Strong and more.

The 31-year-old Johnson moved away from Fargo in 2008.

The Utah-based Best Friends Animal Society is the nation’s largest sanctuary for homeless animals. The organization provides adoption, spay/neuter and educational programs.

The event will be livestreamed at 7 p.m. Central time Thursday on Tiltify, Twitch, YouTube and Facebook, as well as at bestfriends.org/concert. Viewers will have the opportunity to donate to Best Friends Animal Society.
