FARGO — A man accused of kidnapping a woman in Fargo and forcing her to drive to a Moorhead bank in an attempt to get money from an ATM has been federally charged in the case.

Sharmake Mohamed Abdullahi, 30, appeared Thursday, Nov. 18, in U.S. District Court for North Dakota in Fargo on one count of kidnapping. He’s scheduled to appear again Tuesday, when bond is expected to be set.

He could face up to life in prison if convicted. Full story here.

ST. PAUL — Minnesota hospitalization numbers for COVID-19 continue to climb to levels not seen since December 2020 as the state weathers one of the worst outbreaks of the virus in the U.S.

ST. PAUL — Minnesota House Democrats released their proposed map for new legislative districts Friday, Nov. 19, as state lawmakers work on a tighter-than-usual timeframe to adjust districts to align with the 2020 Census results.

It’s the first look at a struggle over redistricting in the state that will likely be settled in court — as has ended up being the case in Minnesota for the last five decades. The Minnesota Supreme Court in June appointed a panel tasked with redrawing the state’s legislative districts if lawmakers can’t get a proposal to the governor by the Feb. 15 deadline.
