Longtime WDAY-TV sports reporter and anchor Dom Izzo will have new duties for Forum Communications beginning Sept. 3.
Izzo will leave the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. nightly sportscasts to host a talk-radio show on 970 WDAY. He will host a radio show from 9-11 a.m. weekdays. It will also be carried by the WDAY Xtra television channel.
"It's been one of the biggest honors of my career to anchor the sports at WDAY each night for the last ten years," Izzo wrote on his Twitter account. "It's a responsibility I never took lightly simply because I knew the weight of the call letters next to my name. Each night I tried to do the best job I could because I knew that our sportscast was destination viewing for people. But after 10 years each night on the set, I'm ready to try something new."
Izzo said on social media that he wants to spend more time at home with his wife Courtney and their newborn son, Jack.
And it's not like Izzo won't be doing any television. He will still anchor First Down Friday, WDAY-TV's high school football wrap-up, and continue to be the voice of the station's North Dakota high school state tournament coverage. He will also play a large role in WDAY-TV's Sports Sunday program and will be the lead anchor for Bison sports coverage.
"It's going to be different not being on the set each night, but I am looking forward to the challenge of a new job," Izzo wrote. "I hope that those that have watched will continue to watch WDAY Sports, because nothing is going to change there."
