FARGO — Eventide has joined the ranks of employers around the country that are mandating employees be vaccinated against COVID-19.

All Eventide employees must complete a COVID-19 vaccination series by Oct. 1, but are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible, the company announced Monday, Aug 2.

In addition, starting Aug. 31, all new employees will be required to have COVID-19 vaccinations.

Eventide said the move is being taken to limit the health risks for the vulnerable people the company cares for during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as its employees.

“With the rate of COVID-19 cases rising, much in part due to the highly contagious Delta variant, we believe we must act now to protect our residents and staff,” Jon Riewer, president and CEO of Eventide Senior Living Communities, said in a news release.

Eventide facilities in Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo report over 75% of employees are already vaccinated, with some locations as high as 95%.

The move mirrors steps taken by Sanford Health, Mayo Clinic and the Department of Veterans Affairs and high-profile employers such as Walmart, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Morgan Stanley and Walt Disney.

Eventide Senior Living Communities is a nonprofit senior health care system headquartered in Moorhead, where it operates two campuses. It also has North Dakota locations in Fargo, West Fargo, Jamestown and Devils Lake.
