Health officials urge you to take the first Covid-19 vaccine offered to you

Once your priority group is up health officials are urging you to take the first vaccine that is offered to you. Health officials say there is not enough vaccine to turn down the Pfizer vaccine in hopes of getting the Moderna or vice versa.

FARGO — Health officials are urging you to take the first vaccine that becomes available you.

So far the Pfizer and Moderna are the only COVID-19 vaccines approved and they are both are about 95% effective.

Once your priority group is up, health officials are urging you to take the first vaccine that is offered to you. Health officials say there is not enough vaccine to turn down the Pfizer vaccine in hopes of getting the Moderna or vice versa.

"We're really encouraging people that when their phase comes up and if they are choosing to be vaccinated they should do it as soon as possible," said Suzanne Schaffer, director of nursing at Fargo Cass Public Health.

Plus, if you wait for more vaccines like the Johnson and Johnson, you could risk your life by getting sick in the mean time.

"The best covid vaccine to get is the first one that's available to you and that is because it will prevent covid and severe disease now. People should not wait until their preferred product comes to market," said Kylie Hall, Project Manager at NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education.
