DENT, Minn. — A dozen veterans from a nursing home in Fergus Falls had fish tales to tell Friday night after spending the day on the lake in a small town in Minnesota.
Flags lined the way as anglers from the Minnesota Veterans Home in came out to Dent Minnesota for some fun in the sun.
"It's fun being with friends and friendly people," said Don Wahlgren a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. "I'm kind of stuck to one of these chairs so I don't really get to go everywhere."
It's his second time on the trip and he looks forward to it every year.
The Dent American Legion and Auxiliary provides all the fishing gear for everyone for the day from the rods to the bait and tackle.
All the vets have to do is toss in their line, wait for a bite, and catch a fish.
And there were plenty reeled in on Friday. The group of veterans and legion members caught about 100 altogether.
After all that hard work, they reaped the rewards with a fish fry.
The Dent American Legion and Auxiliary have hosted the veterans fishing trip for the last 24 years.
