FARGO — A multi-organizational project made it possible to break ground on an affordable housing duplex at the intersection of 11th Street and 13th Avenue south Thursday, June 25.
The Rebuilding Together Fargo Moorhead Area (RTFMA) and the Cass Clay Community Land Trust are two of five organizations that are part of the project.
Wells Fargo donated $750,000 to RTFMA to help build four homes, and contribute to a 20 home rehabilitation project started in 2019.
Developers want to finish the south Fargo duplex by this August, when a second development is planned to begin.
The Land Trust hopes to build 105 affordable housing units in the area during the next five years.
"Not only provide affordable housing for the very first family that moves into these homes but will provide sustainable affordable housing for the families there after," said Trenton Gerads, executive director of the Cass Clay Community Land Trust.
