FARGO — Robert McKinnon, 80, was found dead two weeks after walking out of a memory care facility in Fargo. He was found in an empty commercial space a block from Maple View Memory Care, where he lived.
McKinnon was reported missing after walking away from Maple View on Oct. 1. Security footage from a nearby gas station initially led police to believe he had found a ride. His body was found at 3501 45th St. S. on Oct. 14.
The autopsy report shows McKinnon died of dehydration and exposure. The county coroner has ruled the death accidental. The autopsy doesn't say when McKinnon died.
The Fargo Police Department said the report now goes to the state attorney's office, but they don't expect any charges to be filed.
