MOORHEAD — The Lakes and Prairies Community Action Partnership is hosting a pop-up rent help event Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Family Service Center in Moorhead.

The event will go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and invites struggling renters to stop by and get help filing for rent assistance.

Minnesota renters can get up to 15 months of assistance on rent and utilities.

WDAY News spoke with LP CAP Housing Director Emma Schmit, who says the event is about providing stability. She is urging all those needing help to come out. She says they're trying to avoid a spike in homelessness.

"We know that there are many people that are very behind on the rent, this last couple of years of the pandemic," Schmit said. So we'd like to get help them to get caught up so that they can be stable in their housing."
