The Chicago Bears signed former North Dakota State cornerback Marcus Williams on Wednesday, the NFL team announced on its website.
Williams has appeared in 51 games with 15 starts in six NFL seasons, including stops with the Houston Texans, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He appeared in two games with Tampa Bay earlier this season.
"The opportunity came and I'm just trying to make the most of it," said Williams, who played for NDSU from 2010-2013.
The Bears rank third in the NFL in total defense, allowing 309.9 yards per game. They are third in scoring defense at 19.0 points per game.
"Wherever they need me to play, I'll be out there, special teams as well," Williams said.
Williams finished his Bison career with 21 interceptions in 56 games.
