FARGO - Several local leaders gather Monday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. to commemorate Indigenous Peoples' Day and break ground on a new garden on the North Dakota State University's campus.

The groundbreaking of the new Grandmother Earth’s Gift of Life Garden will take place after several remarks from the following local leaders.

  • Lenore King, Native American Commission Chair
  • NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani
  • Willard Yellow Bird, Spiritual Leader with accompanist from the Buffalo River Singers
  • Sharon White Bear, Native American Commissioner
  • Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney
  • Moorhead Mayor Jonathan Judd
  • West Fargo Mayor Bernie Dardis,
  • Dilworth Mayor Chad Olson
  • Amber Mattson, Gladys Ray's granddaughter
  • Heather Keeler, NDSU assistant director for multicultural recruitment
  • NDSU's Grandmother Earth's Gift of Life Garden Groundbreaking:
