FARGO — A superhero-themed run series that has been touring the country kicks off in Fargo on Friday, June 28.

The DC Wonder Woman Run Series has been held in cities across the U.S. since September and it will be making its first Fargo appearance this coming weekend.

The races start at the Fargo Civic Center, 207 Fourth St. N., go through downtown and follow trails along the river.

The first run is a 5K and starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's races include a half-marathon starting at 7:30 a.m., a 10K at 7:45 and a second 5K that starts at 8.

The run is also hosting a free screening of the 2017 Wonder Woman movie at the Fargo Theater at 7:30 p.m. The first 800 people who arrive wearing a race bib get in for free, according to the race website.

An organizer of the Wonder Woman Run Series in Fargo says the races are open to all.

"It's not an all women's race — it's men and women, children, it's very much a family event," said Mark Knutson, Executive Director of Go Far Events.

Registration for the Wonder Woman Run is open until Friday night.
