FARGO — The Community Champion for Kids award goes to individuals and organizations who have significantly enhanced the lives of children and families in the area.

Robin Nelson, who the Kiwanis call a champion of youth-related causes for kids who need it most, was given the individual award.

The United Way of Cass Clay was the organizational winner for bringing the community together to make sure children and families are not hungry, and have a safe place to call home.

"We wanted to identify the people who were providing the leadership in the organizations that we were supporting financially," said Margie Bailly for Kiwanis.

The awards are normally presented at the Kiwanis Pancake Karnival, but this year, the pancake Karnival will be virtual on WDAY Xtra, Saturday, Feb. 20.
