FARGO-Instagram's 15-second time limit for videos motivated me to search for an app that would speed up my various fashion and cat ... err ... craft project videos.

Vintagio, $3.99 in the Apple App Store, speeds up, slows down and allows users to tweak videos a little or a lot.

The simple "vintage camera" app is easy to use, especially in Express Mode.

First, choose one of seven filters (if desired) and a soundtrack. The app comes with about a dozen soundtracks, or you can upload from your music library or choose "mute" for no sound.

Next, speed up or slow down a video using seven controls. Once the options are selected, upload the video to edit, and within seconds, Vintagio transforms it into a mini film with music and pizazz.

I haven't used the Pro Mode much, but it includes titles, transitions, expanded editing tools and the ability to grab screenshots or add photographs to the video.

I use Vintagio often to prep videos for Instagram or to speed up process videos for stories I'm working on, like one I shot for Irish soda bread. It also works well for stop-motion videos (my favorite!).

Videos are saved to the camera roll or exported to Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.

Vintagio is an uncomplicated video-editing app ideal for video newbies like me.
