Award-winning Minnesota author Stiles to visit MSUM

MOORHEAD - T.J. Stiles, an award-winning author and Foley native, will deliver a lecture on Cornelius Vanderbilt at Minnesota State University Moorhead on Wednesday.

MOORHEAD - T.J. Stiles, an award-winning author and Foley native, will deliver a lecture on Cornelius Vanderbilt at Minnesota State University Moorhead on Wednesday.

The event is set for 7 p.m. in the MSUM Science Lab lecture hall, and will cover Vanderbilt's life and discuss how the man created big business in America.

Stiles is author of "The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt," which received the National Book Award in 2009 and the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 2010.

In addition, Stiles has written for the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times Book Review, Salon.com and more, and is currently working on a biography of George Armstrong Custer.

Wednesday night's presentation is free and open to the public. Parking is available in college lots next to the Science Lab. For more information, call (218) 477-4041.
