FARGO - There will be a benefit event on Saturday to defray funeral expenses for the adult children of a Fargo couple who died in an apparent murder-suicide earlier this month.
Callie Burns, who is hosting the event, said she grew up about a block from Linda and Daniel Williams and their children, Andrea Williams, 24, and Garrett Williams, 22.
"I guess, just talking with Andrea and Garrett, (I) realized that they were in quite a bind financially after this," she said.
Linda and Daniel Williams were found dead on the morning of July 10 in a bedroom in their home at 1830 16½ St. S. Police believe Daniel Williams shot his wife and then himself.
Lt. Joel Vettel said the investigation remains open, and police are awaiting final results from the state crime lab.

Burns said the idea for a benefit arose after a few of her friends organized a memorial concert to benefit the family of local musician Cody Conner, 30, who died on June 6.
"I just thought it would be a great way to bring our small community of music groups together to see what we can bring forth for them and help them out as much as we can," Burns said.
Saturday's benefit at The Aquarium in downtown Fargo will feature a silent auction from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. and music starting at 10 p.m. from three metro-area bands: What Kingswood Needs, SOTOS and Benefactor.
The Aquarium donated the venue and also has helped with lining up donations, Burns said.
