'Cats,' 'Putnam County Spelling Bee,' more in upcoming Straw Hat season

MOORHEAD-Minnesota State University Moorhead's Straw Hat Players announced its season for this summer.

The 52nd season opens June 2-5 in the Hansen Theatre, MSUM, with the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical revue "Some Enchanted Evening," with hits like "Climb Every Mountain" and more.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," a musical about a diverse group of teens competing for a spelling championship, runs June 9-12 on the Gaede Stage at MSUM.

Neil Simon's comic twist on Anton Chekhov stories, "The Good Doctor," runs June 16 through June 19 on the Gaede Stage.

Andrew Lloyd Weber's classic musical "Cats" closes the season June 23-27 on the Hansen Theatre stage.

The season was shortened by one production to make room for Gooseberry Park Players' production of "Footloose" July 15-19.

All Straw Hat shows start at 7:30 p.m. except for a 2 p.m. matinee performance of "Cats" on June 27.

Signed performances for the hearing impaired are Thursdays for all Straw Hat shows.
