If the never-ending winter has got you down, start thinking of what your beach read will be this summer. North Dakota State University Press celebrates its latest publications with a party on Thursday night. Authors Bonnie Larson Staiger, David W. Mills, Rebecca E. Bender, Dawn Quigley and Thomas D. Isern will read from their books, as will the family of the late poet Tim Murphy. Literary-minded folk quartet Cat Sank Trio plays as the public is invited to meet the writers during an autograph session. The event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harry D. Disney on Ice

The Fargodome, 1800 N. University Drive, will become a magical wonderland this weekend when Disney On Ice presents "Worlds of Enchantment." Stars from your favorite movies, including Anna and Elsa, Ariel, Buzz, Woody, Jessie and Mickey, lace up for some action on the the ice. FM Derby Girls

Not all the skating action is on the ice this weekend. The Fargo Moorhead Derby Girls roll into the Fargo Civic Center, 2017 Fourth St. N., for their 10th season of wheeling, bruise-dealing and bone-beating. The locals take on the Forx Roller Derby at 6 p.m. Saturday, but the whole night is full of fun with a DJ spinning tunes during the bout and a special halftime event honoring a decade of derby. A portion of the funds raised from the event go to the YWCA Cass Clay. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for ages 6 to 12; ticketmaster.com.

Celtic Festival

St. Patrick’s Day is more than a week away, but you can start celebrating Saturday at the annual Celtic Festival. The Hjemkomst Center, 202 First Ave. N., Moorhead, hosts Irish, Scottish and Welsh cultures and celebrates the music, dances, stories, art and food of the Celtic countries. The fun runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All Axes
Sunday
String ’em up! Regional guitar collectors will jam into TAK Music Venue, 1710 Center Ave., Dilworth, for All Axes. The event invites music lovers to bring their guitars of all shapes and sizes, acoustic and electric, to swap, sell or just show off. Last year saw a 1953 Gretsch, a 1957 TV Yellow Les Paul, a 1959 Les Paul Gold Top, four double-neck guitars, a Martin Paul Simon Signature OM 42 model and an 1890s Bauer Parlor Guitar. Vendors will also be on hand to sell gear and other guitar products. The six-string celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, with various awards given away throughout. Admission is $5, or $10 for a swap pass.
