FARGO-A downtown concert venue is closing after it was unable to negotiate with the building's landlord to stay in its current spot.
The New Direction, located in a basement space at 14 Roberts St., on Wednesday, July 27, posted the announcement of the upcoming closing on its Facebook page, saying that despite extended talks with the landlord, "we were unable to come to an agreement that worked for us financially."
The post thanked patrons for their support over the past five years and said all currently scheduled shows will still happen. The New Direction's final shows will be Sept. 23 and 24, with more information about those shows to be announced soon.
The Facebook post had nearly 300 likes and reactions by Friday, July 29, afternoon, as well as 148 shares and 48 comments as locals and musicians thanked the venue for its run and expressed sadness at the news.
