Energy rate increase topic of public meeting

FARGO - The Public Service Commission will hold a public input meeting at 7 p.m. April 15 and at noon April 16 in E. Morrow Lebedeff Hall, Room 170, North Dakota State University, to educate and elicit public input regarding Northern State Power Co.'s request to increase customer rates by 9.25 percent. NSP is owned by Xcel Energy.

The increase for a residential customer using 750 kilowatt-hours would be $6.40 per month in the winter and $6.64 per month in the summer.

The meeting is an opportunity for all NSP customers to learn from the company what is driving rate increases and to express their concerns to the PSC, who will ultimately determine the appropriate rates for NSP.

A public service commissioner and NSP officials will be present at the meeting.
